TV Tower Vehicle Access Closure

In discussion with Ron Hamilton, Ron made it quite clear that although Chek TV did the clean up at the TV Tower, on Mt Warburton Pike, as part of their lease agreement with the province, Parks Canada was in favour of blocking the area off to vehicle traffic so the area could rehabilitate.

The Saturna Island Parks Liaison Committee was unanimous in stating that vehicle access to the view from the tower was paramount as we have an aging population that along with our younger citizens considers vehicle access to this view as part of their heritage. Although Parks Canada Assured us that the closure was temporary, we felt that if a temporary closure was allowed to this area, it would become permanent.

Ron Hamilton stood fast on stopping cars and trucks from driving all over the reclamation area.

In the end, we formed a committee to offer up a compromise for the interim until they create a full plan for the area that could be three or four years down the road.
